MY FIRST CROCHET FLOWER

Hi Everyone

Woo hoo!!  It's Friday!!

Not sure why I get excited though as all of my days are pretty similar .. .. but pretty good too because I am doing what I like doing best.   It's just a shame I need to sleep really!

Today I want to share a flower that I made at daft o'clock this morning!!

Normally I catch up with house jobs and a bit of commenting first thing .. .. but since New Year I have had two crochet/knitting books, hooks and yarn sitting on my bedside cabinet (along with lots of other crafty pages torn from magazines etc).  I borrowed the books from my lovely Sis when I stayed over at New Year.  The books are crammed full of flowers and even vegetables to knit and crochet and I have been so excited about trying to have a go at some of them.  Well my itchy fingers couldn't wait any longer .. .. ..  and today was finally the day for producing

"Crochet Flower No. 1"

Not brilliant .. .. but not bad either.

So that is why there wasn't much commenting done by me this morning :-(  sorry!!!

Then of course once made it needed to go on a card to see if it had any practical use.

Totally the reverse order of making things as I started with my embellishment, then chose the papers to work with, and then the image!!  Normally I work the other way round.

So what do you think to my first effort?

This used:

Image:  Penny Black "3865K" Gossamer
Sentiment:  Pink Petticoat
Backing Papers:  DCWV "Latte Stack"
Josy Rose:  Nail Heads
ProMarkers
Brad and Ribbons from the Stash Box
Crochet Flower No. 1

So it has taken nearly 5 weeks to get around to making my first flower .. .. I wonder how long it will take me to get another one done LOL!!!

Have a good evening everyone and hopefully I will be catching up with some commenting later too whilst hubby does his Friday stint in the kitchen.

Love

I've had some cotton and a crochet hook waiting to be picked up for ages now, where did you get this pattern?
It took me a while this time, but i finally found your heart on your card:))

  9. A perfect flower for a first try Jules & you've matched it up a treat with the papers & super image. I used to do crochet when my kids were small & I keep meaning to get back into it as I do like the look of these flowers on cards.

  24. Wow! Your crochet flower is beautiful Jules! It looks perfect to me. I used to do crocheting years ago and tried to do a flower just before xmas. It took me quite a few goes to get tension right. One petal was HUGE and another one teeny!! I must give it another go as they are very in fashion at the moment.
I really do love this card! The image is gorgeous and perfect with the crocheted flower. My fave papers! :-) and a delish bow to finish it off - couldn't be more perfect!
    Hope you are keeping warm!
    Have a good weekend!

  32. Hi Jules,
I hope all is ok as there are no published comments as I'm typing this and it's Saturday! I know there must be loads.

I think your flower is really lovely. Just about the daintiest crochet flower I've seen. Jenna had me teaching her to crochet last time she came down and she's coming down this weekend for the next lesson, lol! Your card is still just as fab as always even though you did work back to front for you, lol! Lovely colours and a perfect setting for your flower.

The crochet flower is beautiful. My order is for 12 assorted please!! Only joking, but you could make a bob or two selling these.

  42. Fabulous crocheted flower Jules. Compliments the gorgeous card beautifully. It's been years since I used my crochet hooks or knitting needles. Somewhere in the house I have some fab knitting magazines from almost 20 years ago! What goes around comes around!

The forecast snow is falling. But I managed to get to the hairdressers and the supermarket before it started settling. Crafty time now beckons.
