Hi Everyone
Sorry for the "no show" yesterday .. .. .. the time I had allocated for making and posting my teeny tiny creation yesterday got eaten up by my "not so trusty sewing machine"!
Yesterday it got "delusions of grandeur" and decided it just didn't want to sew my snippets together and it totally jammed. That then ended up with me spending nearly an hour taking the shuttle casing apart to reveal how much dust, fluff and glitter?!?!! Mr Heart couldn't believe his eyes!! LOL!!
I gave it all a good clean and then queried as to whether I should be oiling it. Mr Heart went on line to get the instructions for my machine and it said it should "never" be oiled! That surprised me. But it did say that the shuttle casing area should be cleaned after completing each garment .. .. .. no mention of how many finished cards for some reason! So I think I had better take it apart a little more often in future.
It definitely behaved itself on my creation tonight though which is for taking over to Fezziwig's Festive Frolic Challenge. This fortnight it is a picture inspiration challenge and this is what I came up with:
This used:
Image: Woodware Clear Magic Singles "FRS357" Trimming the Tree
Backing Papers: Magazine Cover Gift years ago
ProMarkers
Gold Glamour Dust
My Trusty Sewing Machine
and this is the inspiration picture
My tree isn't as lush as this one but does incorporate the colours and general theme.
So that is me for today and Christmas card number three for June is in the box! Yay!!
How did you do? Did you manage to find a heart?
Another beauty.....with my keen eye, I think I spotted one or two hearts there!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove this tree and the hearts were well hidden 'in plain sight' as they say!! Pleased to hear that your sewing machine is trusty again after its spring clean - they do appreciate that and also being treated to a new needle now and again. I never need to oil my machine although I've not used it for anything other than fabric sewing.
ReplyDeletelove your stamp and the delicate non traditional colours just 1 or 2 hearts here !!
ReplyDeleteA lovely card Jules and I spotted a few hearts!
ReplyDeleteI was doing some sewing at the weekend and my threads jammed, I too was ashamed to see how much fluff was in the bobbin case. My machine only needs one small spot of oil on the bobbin screw - when I remember!

Morning Jules...mmmmm yes I think I managed to spot a heart or two...love the quirky Christmas tree with its soft blues and pinks...
ReplyDeleteMy mum was a dressmaker When we were young back in the 50's and I can always remember her having a very small can of oil in her machine box...but how things things have progressed from the old treadle sewing machines..
Have a good day
Anne

A very pretty card Jules, love the tree stamp and your colour scheme x
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Christmas card! On a hopefully helpful note I can recommend using a compressor air line to clean the shuttle area on your sewing machine I.e tyre pump at the garage although they might currently be out of commission or one that plugs into the lighter socket in the car!

I'm glad you found the issue with your sewing machine Jules! I thought all machines had to be oiled. Not that I've ever oiled mine, but I think it came with some oil. Now I'm going to have to research that. This card, this image is just darling! How do you find all these darling images?! I love the color combo on this one and I'd love a real little tree like this. So sweet with the hearts and ornaments in pink and blue. Great take on the inspiration photo! Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card Jules, I really need to get on with some Christmas cards!

Gosh this was really difficult to spot the hearts? What a great non-traditional choice of colours, looks super.

ReplyDeleteHope you are all well

Well I counted at least 8 hearts, and a double heart on the pot ! Such a beautiful tree in soft colours ! Wow, trouble with your sewing machine, just as well that it wants to "work" again. Hugs, Enny
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely Jules. It's great to see a DL card and that Woodware stamp is perfect xx
ReplyDeleteOh this is stunning, what a great make and well worth the wait!!! I love the pick of the colours you have gone for. Definitely a few wee hearts on this one!!! Golly I must have a wee look and see if my machine needs cleaned and or oiled!!! I just set it up the other day for the first time in about 6 years!! Oops!!
