Hi Everyone
I hope you have had a good day.
Have you ever made your own stencil?
I have often made them from paper or thin card and end up throwing them away eventually because they clearly aren't going to last very long.
Well the other day I had a brainwave and I finally got chance to try my idea out.
I laminated a piece of thin paper and then die cut into it lots of different shapes in a variety of sizes:
My home made stencil
Distress Inks: Hickory Smoke, Peeled Paint and Tattered Rose
Sentiment: Clearly Besotted "Fancy Sayings"
Peg Stamps: Rubber Stamp Tapestry "Moonlit Vase" for stamping through the stencil
Nail Heads
Ribbon
Charm
My Trusty Sewing Machine
So that is me for today .. .. the snow (and the neighbouring snowman who had already lost his head as we were going to bed) have now all disappeared so the roads are now going to be much much safer for those who need to use them.
Hi Jules,
ReplyDeleteNo snow here!! Very cold but only had a few frosts.
Love your card with your stencil. Great idea to use a laminator. Mine sits on a shelf in my craft room and used a couple of times a year!!
I am going to try using my fairy dies to make stencils with them.
Stay safe and hugs,
Love,
Carol

It's so much fun making your own. Love the card. If you make it out of card, use spray paint to coat it so it will last longer. Hugs Anesha
ReplyDeletegreat idea.
ReplyDeleteA super stencil Jules, a great idea - I use a laminated piece of card as a blending mat but never thought to use one as a stencil. Your card is fabulous, all the better for making your own stencil, you should be chuffed.

Well aren't you just the clever gal Jules! What a fabulous idea!! I want to make stencils, but haven't taken the plunge to buy the acetate to make them on. I know paper or thin cardboard won't last, so I just don't do it. But laminating paper, well that was genius! I love the look you got with your fabulous stencil, the colors are so soft and dreamy. Loving that cute little bird charm too. Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteBrilliant idea and your card looks beautiful. I love the colours and all the little patterns and details. Now what else can be laminated...? x
ReplyDeleteGreat idea to laminate & cut - I’ve used thick acetate packaging & dies to make some in the past but I like the blending sheet one, I currently use a Teflon oven liner but being black makes it difficult sometimes.
