HAPPY BIRTHDAY (HOW ORIGINAL IS THAT)

Hi Everyone

I won't start off tonight by saying that I hope you have all had a good day.

Personally I think it has been an awful day having watched all the aftermath last night's happenings.  What is the world coming to?

My Big Baby Boy lives near Clapham and when we saw some of the awful pictures last night we recognised some of the shops and knew that it was all close to him.

I was so relieved when I spoke with him first thing this morning and knew he was OK.  I certainly didn't sleep very much!

Here is my share of the day:

This used:

Image:  Penny Black "3865K" Gossamer
Sentiment:  Papermania "Stamping for Him"
Backing Paper:  Pink Petticoat
Josy Rose:  Nail Heads
Small Black Seed Beads
Shrink Plastic
My Trusty Sewing Machine
Woodware Corner Punch
ProMarkers
Ribbons from the Stash Box

and that is me.

Looks like my cards are going through a blue phase this week!!  That means blue snippets will be on the increase LOL!!!

So that is me for today.

I'll catch you again tomorrow  -  hopefully after a better night's sleep than last night .. .. but that will depend on the news this evening!!!!

Love

  6. Hi Jules, not managed any snippets this week so far but have high hopes of tomorrow. Beautiful cards - love the blues. My sister no.2 lives in Balham and, as it turns out, very near the site of rioting last night so I was glad to speak to her today too and find that she was not in any danger. My nephew, sister no.1's boy, is on standby to drive over and take her out of danger's way if the rioting continues though. Such a worry, and what for - like you say, I just don't know what this country is coming too!! Elizabeth x

  8. Fab card Jules, as always! I know what you mean about the riots, I think it's shaken many of us to the core, let alone those who either live in the areas hit or have loved ones there.

BTW, I was just teasing about not spotting the heart on your first in the trio of cards you posted :) I had a cheeky email from Sandra suggesting I shoulda gone to SpecSavers :) Di xx

  12. Hi Jules,
Another lovely card and so classy, I do like the Penny Black flower stamps but haven't got this one yet. You can't go wrong with Penny Black images and Pink Petticoat papers but at the moment I'm in my Funky Hand phase so have been neglecting Pink Petticoat for a while. I shall have to remedy that soon.
I too, have been listening to the news reports of rioting and looting with disbelief, I just hope it can be brought under control quickly. The trouble with these people is ..... no I won't get on my soapbox or I won't be able to stop, and you probably know it all anyway.

    Hugs, Lynn x

  16. Hi Jules,
A beautiful, beautiful card. I just love the way you've put this together and I do love that stamp!

The whole situation across the country is upsetting me so much. Actually saw, on the local news last night, the cars on fire right outside my school. To think that some of the culprits are children too. xx

  20. Jules Congratulations on your win over at Penny Black, been away the weekend for the balloon flight that didn't happen :( so ave been playing catch up with Google reader.

The Handsworth looting is only 3-4 miles from my house and for the time being I just will not go anywhere that has a fair sized shopping centre in Birmingham, Walsall etc. We have a big retail park about a mile away and they boarded a lot of that up yesterday as they were afraid of trouble. I won't call it riots because most of it is people just stealing things for the sake of it. I think it is absolutely appalling and unfortunately indicative of the mindset of a generation of youngsters who have been given everything on a plate without having to work for anything and not knowing the true value of things. I don't have the answers but I know they need some bloody discipline before it gets too late to do anything about their attitudes.

Life is hard enough in these economic times without the extra financial burden this will put on us, We will all pay for it one way or another except these kids who only know how to take...

I am glad your baby is okay and just hope that this mindless vandalism and destruction comes to an end soon. I know the do-gooders on TV say that these kids have no jobs and nothing to do but how the hell will what they are doing improve anything?

    Lots of love

  32. Hi Jules!

This is such a soothing and calming card. That background paper and your colored flowers are fabulous. And you are amazing with a sewing machine didyou know that?

The riots are also all over the news here in Holland. I can imagine that you were so worried.
And the same thought crossed my mind too; what is the world coming to??
Good to hear all is going well with your son but from what we saw on the news here it looks quite scary; take care...

    Love and hugs,
    Stella
