I hope your Saturday has gone well .. .. don't you just love the start of a weekend!!!
I have taken time to have a quick play with a new technique today.
When I am sitting cutting ribbons to length, turning the handle on my cuttlebug over, and over and over again and tying ribbons and bows during the week I usually have my laptop on to teach myself new things. So much I need to learn!!
Here is what I wanted to try from what I found this week:
This used:
Backing Paper: An old envelope stitched repeatedly
Backing Paper for Flower: Pink Petticoat
Sentiment: Pink Petticoat
Sizzix Dies: "656079" Flower Layers #5 and "656076" Branch with Leaves (but I pruned it)
Nestabilities: Labels Four
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder: Hounds Tooth
Josy Rose: Nail Heads
X-Cut Punch: Butterfly
Organza scraps
My Trust Sewing Machine
White Gel Pen
Wax Paper
Brad, Gems and Ribbon from the Stash Box
The technique that was new to me is the effect on the nestie shape.
If you fancy looking at what I did you can find the instructions on the link below.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRRiyc9KpnE&feature=related
but beware .. .. the lovely lady in the video has done a mountain of projects for you to look at!!
I don't think I made a very good choice of embossing folder and my wax paper was a crumpled scrap end from the olden days when I used to make cakes (probably a whole 15 years old) .. .. but all in all the finished result isn't so bad for a first attempt.
New wax paper needs to go on the shopping list and then I shall try again .. .. but using a different embossing folder and more delicate inks colours. I love trying new things.
Have an enjoyable evening everyone and a great Sunday.

ReplyDeleteHi Jules, I love all the stitched lines on this card & the layered flower. This is a great technique to try & it looks really effective, weel done. I have to admit that I am far too lazy to do stuff like that. lol. Two printers? You must get through tons of ink carts!

Well done you on trying out a new technique. It's really cool. And fab stitching and soft petals too! I'm trying something new too right now. I'm trying to paint an abstract picture with acrylics on canvas! I suspect even an abstract is going to be too ambitious - the paint is really hard to move around - and given that I have guests for lunch tomorrow - I'm gonna have to clear it all off the kitchen table before bed! I watched the vid. It's a great technique but, alas...I'm allergic to ironing! Hugs, Lesley
ReplyDeleteYou put me to shame Jules. I remember this video when Gina first posted it and fully intended to have a go - but of course - didn't. You've made a great job of this technique and your big flower is gorgeous. Fab card.
