My photo
A very warm welcome to my teeny, tiny part of the huge world of blogging. This is where I share my passion for making hand made greeting cards. So - why "Always with a Heart"? Well this is for two reasons. Firstly, it is because every card I produce carries a heart on it somewhere. This can be big and bold or small and almost hidden - the fun sometimes is just trying to find it! Secondly it is because I put my heart into everything I produce. I hope that any visitors enjoy seeing what I post. If you drop by then please leave me a comment so that I know you called. It would be nice to know that you have found my heart in what I do.

A CARD IN TEN MINUTES

Hi Everyone

I hope you have all been having a lovely weekend.

We have spent quite a bit of ours gardening .. .. .. it feels so good when you can look out of your window and see where your time has gone!

Over at the As You See It Challenge it is time for another "Card in Under 10 Minutes" theme .. .. and I decided this morning that if I couldn't spare 10 minutes to make a quick card it was a poor show.  The theme being "fast foliage".

The only trouble was I ended up making two cards - because the first one went "over time" but the second one (with a few changes) came in at 9 minutes 38 seconds.  I still only just made it!

To play along you can design your card in your head or sketch it out first.  You can gather all your supplies ahead of time.  But once you start cutting/stamping/die cutting/embossing etc you must start your timer.

Anyway .. .. this is my final card:

This used:

Embossing Folder: Kaisercraft "Leaves"
Sentiment:  Wow! "StampSet33" Big Words
Distress Ink:  Bundled Sage
Sizzix Originals Die "655459" Frame Heart
Corner Rounding and Heart Punch
My Trusty Sewing Machine

and this was my first attempt .. .. .. which came in at 10 minutes 58 seconds

Cutting out one of the layers and trimming my sentiment so it didn't need to fit the card front so precisely made all the difference, and I must admit I think I prefer the less fussy version.

Hoping for fewer jobs around the house and more crafting this coming week.

Sadly my wedding couple who were supposed to have got married yesterday have had to defer for yet another year.  We are hoping for "third time lucky".

They could have got married .. .. with reduced numbers .. .. no dancing, no group photographs and masks to be worn at the reception.  But I am not surprised they have decided to wait until next year in the hope that things are much more improved.

So no wedding .. .. .. but they could have travelled to the Euro games and stood side by side alongside hundreds of total strangers with not a mask in sight!!  Where is the sense in that?!?!?!

I can understand one rule for one and another for the big money like Scotland has. Banned parts of England yet they can come to us and travel back same day. So no holidays sgain this year as my dons partner has caravan and family in Scotland. As for your cards i eod need to use glue as takes 10 minutes getting tspe off. Love both cards.

Great card and interesting that you've explained how you managed to cut down the time to be within the ten minutes. Shame about the wedding couple - there are so many bewildering anomalies within the 'rules' governing what can and can't happen at present.

Fabulous card, Jules. The beautiful embossing makes a great background.
What a shame that the wedding couple had to postpone their wedding again. Often the Covid restrictions seem to make no sense at all. xx

Gosh, good job on making two lovely cards in super quick time... I avoid timed challenges unless the timer is set for 24 hours lol. Both cards are very pretty x

Two fantastic cards Jules. I can understand your couple defering their wedding again. A dream wedding with masks and social distancing just isen't a dream wedding. These days most couples are living together before the wedding anyway, where as 41 years ago when I tied the knot things were not quite as liberal.

Super cards Jules, a lovely embossing folder and great design.
I could never make a card in 10 minutes, not even if I did have everything together and a design in my mind, I always change my mind and things never end up how I intended them!

Wow, a card in 10 minutes?!! AND you even sewed on it! I'm super impressed Jules, as I don't think I can do a card in 10 minutes. lol I guess I should try, but just don't think I could make it. I think you did great and I am loving this sweet card! Your inked embossed background looks amazing, love that striped heart and your sentiment the way it goes across it. Nicely done and in 9 mins and 38 seconds! So impressed! Hugs, Brenda

Aww what a let down for your wedding couple. Yep makes no sense at all, unless you take into account BIG MONEY. Hopefully next year for them.
Two beautiful cards with super designs and colours, that paper is so pretty, take care, Kate x

Two brilliant cards Jules....I like them both and it would take me more than 10 mins for any card because I faff! Well done! Such a shame for the wedding couple but |I can't say I blame them...not much of a celebration with masks, no dancing and all the other restrictions. Hope it will be so worth it when the time comes for them. xx

Hi Jules,
I love both your cards and great designs.

I have spent of time in the garden but still have quite a more to do yet. I have to do it all, as he is not interested in gardens!

Shame about your wedding couple. Too many rules at the moment but at least keeps people safe.

Hope your Mum is keeping well.
Love and hugs,
Carol

These are fabulous Jules and I applaud your honesty about the time it took to make each of them!! There is certainly something very rewarding about gardening especially when the rain keeps on coming and the weeds keep on growing!! xx

Jules this card is a triumph in under 10 minutes; the coloured embossed foliage makes an eye-catching background and I am especially impressed with the addition of machine stitching too!! Your explanation of the differences between your first and second attempt is also really useful and great to show that it can be done! Congratulations on rising to the challenge of speed for this week's challenge over at As You See It!

Oh my word! You've packed such a lot into a speed card! I always try to simplify as much as possible for a speed challenge but you've more than risen to the occasion. I love the way you've inked the embossing and made it much more of a feature. Lovely, lovely work. Thanks so much for joining us at As You See It Challenge.

Sometimes a dry run is all you need! You did a great job in under 10 min., especially for a card as complex as yours! Well done! That embossed background is a really sophisticated feature for a speed stamping challenge. Thanks for getting your adrenaline pumping with us at As You See It Challenges.
