My photo
A very warm welcome to my teeny, tiny part of the huge world of blogging. This is where I share my passion for making hand made greeting cards. So - why "Always with a Heart"? Well this is for two reasons. Firstly, it is because every card I produce carries a heart on it somewhere. This can be big and bold or small and almost hidden - the fun sometimes is just trying to find it! Secondly it is because I put my heart into everything I produce. I hope that any visitors enjoy seeing what I post. If you drop by then please leave me a comment so that I know you called. It would be nice to know that you have found my heart in what I do.

ANOTHER WEDDING FAYRE DONE

Hi Everyone

Sorry for not making an appearance yesterday .. .. .. too much happening in the House of Hearts to play with my general craft goodies.

All good .. .. but busy!!.

Today was our wedding fayre.  Another great day spent with my lovely Sis.  I could spend every minute of every day with her and never tire of her lovely company.

I did remember to take my camera this time .. .. but some of the pictures were rubbish.  I have decided I am only any good at doing close up pictures (which is what I normally do).  Must try harder in future!!!

So of all the pictures I took I think the close up ones I took of my lovely Sister's bags came out best.

.. .. and each and every one of those tiny tiny beads have been stitched on by her own fair hands!!  Taking hours and hours!!!

But just to prove I was there too here is a rubbish piccy of some of my makes.  I will try much harder next time!!  I clearly need to learn those camera settings!!!

We displayed my Sister's bags separate to the stationery this time and I must admit it was a good move.  People certainly noticed the bags more with them standing alone.

Lots of interest in the stationery too .. .. and a few requests I wasn't able to meet.  I am now looking for wedding stationery that needs posting out August time as I have enough work to keep me well busy until then .. .. but there were so many last minute wedding requests it was scary.  One couple wanted stationery for a wedding just after Easter .. .. .. this year!!!!!  Gosh that would be one big rush!!

I hated letting people down but there is only so much you can fit into a day and still stay sane!!

Hope you have all had a great weekend.

Love

What beautiful bags Jules - stunning and such patience!! Glad you both had a good day - it's amazing how people think you can make cards and stuff in ten minutes isn't it! x

You and your sister are obviously extremely talented ladies. The bags are fabulous and so detailed and of course your cards and other stationery are beautiful. You're right to say no because if you didn't, you'd end up frazzled and not even enjoy making the things...it'd be a real chore. So good for you just taking on what you can manage!

Hi Jules, great to hear the day was a success. Your sister's bags are just stunning and, of course, your cards are gorgeous. There's no point in taking orders that you possibly couldn't meet, you'd risk disappointing the bride or making yourself ill with the effort ... not a good idea. The best advice I've ever been given, and I pass it on to you freely, was that it is good to pace yourself ... I'm not saying I always heed this advice but things work out better when I do :) Elizabeth x

Gorgeous bags Jules, and as ever your stationery is lovely! Awful as it is to have to turn away orders, it's a real sign of your success. Have been sorting out my old craft mags today - keeping a very special QCME one though :)

Mrs A has only been and fallen in the duck pond in the playground! No, I didn't know we had one either - but then I also didn't know that she would leap onto a pogo stick like someone demented and hop all over until she reached said 'unknown' duck pond did I?! Sarn is off to buy a Life Buoy :)

As always,it's manic in the playground :))

Love, Di xx

Oh what fabulous bags! Obviously the artistic talent runs in your family!

It's sad that someone should ask you for stationery at such short notice, they really ought to realise that the personal touch takes time, but you were right to say no! You have the good sense to know what's possible and what's not!

Is it something in the water where you and your sister grew up or is it in your genes? Two totally talented ladies in the one family!

I love the gorgeous bags your sister makes. Your cards look amazing even if the photographer needs some lessons!

Cheers,

Hi Jules, sounds like you had a busy weekend, glad it went well. Your range of cards are stunning as are your sisters bags. I embroider myself and have done a number of designs covered in seed beads so know just how time consuming and fiddley they can be.
Regarding the wedding stationary request for Easter time I think that just goes to prove how people who don't craft have no idea just how much time goes into making a handmade card (or cards). In the past when I have been asked to take cards into work people have asked me the price and when I have given them a figure they have replyed saying 'I'm not paying that' (£2 or £3), which is fine it's no skin off my nose but what makes me smile is that these same people will go to one of the large retail card shops and pay easily £5+ on a mass produced card that says handmade when all someone has done is glued an embellishment onto it or added a bit of glitter somewhere. Crazy.
Anyway hope you have a lovely day the weather here in Cheshire is bright and sunny this morning, Spring is in the air xxx

Your stall(s) looked wonderful - I can see why the bags went down so well they're gorgeous. Can't believe someone wanted stationary for less than 5 weeks off - do they expect any guests to show up???

Bernie said...

Gosh you and your sister are such extremely talented ladies. You both do such beautiful work.

It is difficult to turn someone away but people who haven't done it don't appreciate the time it takes to make a card much less 50 or 100. I sell my cards at craft fairs and often hear people say they love a card I've made but they wouldn't pay 'that much' for it. I just smile because I know they will end up buying a mass produced card for at least twice as much.
Hugs & Blessings
Bernie
