Hi Everyone
As you have probably guessed there haven't been many opportunities for me to escape into my little craft room recently .. .. .. a certain special someone has been keeping me very busy for quite a long time now .. .. .. and she still is bless her. If I am not physically with her then it comes in the form of oodles of paperwork, combined with lots of worrying and phone calls .. .. .. and hoping I haven’t missed anything or let her down in some way. My brain just never seems to shut off from all that is going on with her.
Mum has needed to be transferred to another nursing home which is thankfully closer to all three of us kids, so our travelling time has been greatly reduced which means we have more time to physically spend with Mum rather than driving. It is a lovely home where nothing seems too much trouble and the staff are all super smiley and friendly .. .. .. .. despite the challenging occupants. There must be a super special mould that is used to make amazing people like these because not just anyone could do what they do day after day, week after week.
I have certainly been missing my crafting big time though over these last few months as have my customers and stock box .. .. but hopefully now that most of the paperwork and changes of address have been done (yet again) .. .. a little crafting time is going to wheedle its way slowly back into my life. Even if it is only the odd half hour or so here and there. I love my little escape place where all the worries of my world get to disappear, for a little while.
There are always a few crafty bits in my bag when visiting Mum .. .. .. so if it is one of her “hard on asleep and completely out of it” days (which most of them unfortunately are nowadays) I sit and do a bit of colouring, fussy cutting or die cutting with my tiny little Sizzix Sidekick. But I like to think that she knows I am with her and that she has heard my voice .. .. .. even if she hasn’t responded.
But this does mean I am building up quite a nice little collection of bits and pieces ready for turning into cards when time is being kind to me .. .. and my card today makes use of "just a few" of those little die cuts.
This used:
First Edition Craft "Cog Dies" (very old now but still well loved) - still lots of diecuts left too
Slatted stencil and Pumice Stone Distress Ink
Sentiment: A very old wooden Papermania favourite that doesn't have a name :-(
Corner Rounding Punch
Hot Fix Nailheads
My Trusty Sewing Machine
I am running over to the Snippets Playground (if I can remember the way after all of this time) as everything I have used made use of snippets, apart from the card base. Even the backing paper started life as a huge 12 x 12 piece of design paper once upon a time.
So now I have made my comeback I will see if I can remember how to link up LOL!!!
I hope all is well with everyone and your lives are running more smoothly than mine.
Take care and have a good day.

So nice to see you back Jules. Cutting the driving time and seeing your mum content in her new home must be a relief for you. It’ll take time for you to get into the swing of things after the past couple of months away. Glad that you’re all OK.
Hi Jules
Good to see you blogging again. LOVELY card made with your snippets. Sorry to hear life is so busy and challenging for you, but hoping you will enjoy more crafting now you’re doing less travelling.
Thanks for coming to play in the Snippets Playground. See you in the treehouse later. xxx
Lovely to see you posting again Jules,a fabulous masculine card. Pleased to read that mum is nearer to you and you are happy with her care.
It’s lovely to hear from you, and to see one of your fabulous cards. I’m glad your Mum is closer so you don’t have to travel so far, on top of everything else. Care home staff are amazing, and so are the many carers like yourself. xxx
Absolutely beautiful card, Jules. I love the colour combination.
Good to hear that your Mum is now in a nursing home much closer to you. I’m sure she knows you are there, even if she’s asleep.
Take care,
Liz xx
Hello Jules. It's nice to see you back and with a lovely masculine card too. It's good to hear that you don't have to travel so far to be with Mum. Take care of yourself too and I hope to see you back again soon.
How lovely to see you in Blogland with us and heading for the Snippets Playground as well with this super card. It's amazing how time spent crafting can iron out the worries of everyday life - even if only for a short time. A lifesaver indeed. It's great that your Mum is being well cared for in a lovely place and that there's not too much travelling involved in visiting. Take care and look after yourself too. Hope to see you back with some more of your lovely work as and when you can manage it. Hugs xx
Nice to hear from you and showing us your fab card. Glad Mum has settled in her new home and that it is closer to you. The paperwork mountain will slowly come down and you can spend more time in your crafty space. take care. Elaine
Hi there Jules,
I was so excited to see you back in blogland with a stunning card.
I personally think that craft goodies should be prescribed on the NHS to ease life's stresses!
Hope that you get to squeeze in more craft time soon.
Sending lots of love
Eve xx
Very stylish card Liz - great use of the bits you are accumulating when you can. Sorry life is so challenging for you at the moment - like many of us I’ve also been there so I know how tiring and stressful it can be. It’s a big help to know that your mum is being cared for in what sounds like a great nursing home and you are quite right - the people who do this job and do it well really are cut from a special cloth! I’m sure your mum knows you are there even if she can’t always show it, and rest assured that when you do your best for your mum you could never let her down! Take care of yourself and hope you will manage a little crafting when time allows xx
Oh, dearest Jules, what a ride life has been for you recently. You were missed for sure. So glad your Mum is now closer to all of you and the new care facility/home sounds like a good choice. LOVE your card, different to your usual style, but so fresh and crisp! Psst, I had to search for the heart - but knew it would be there somewhere! Take care and remember our previous emails, always!
Love and hugs
Di xxx
