A very warm welcome to my teeny, tiny part of the huge world of blogging. This is where I share my passion for making hand made greeting cards. So - why "Always with a Heart"? Well this is for two reasons. Firstly, it is because every card I produce carries a heart on it somewhere. This can be big and bold or small and almost hidden - the fun sometimes is just trying to find it! Secondly it is because I put my heart into everything I produce. I hope that any visitors enjoy seeing what I post. If you drop by then please leave me a comment so that I know you called. It would be nice to know that you have found my heart in what I do.

PENNY BLACK SATURDAY CHALLENGE

Hi Everyone

Hope you are all well.

I am beginning to think hubby chose the right week to have off.  We had beautiful sunshine whilst he was on holiday last week .. .. but this week we have had rain every day!!  Not continuous rain but very heavy downpours in short spells .. .. must be late April showers!!!

A quick share of a card I am entering for the Penny Black Saturday challenge where the theme this week is "distressing".

This is something I am getting into more and more .. .. after being quite frightened by it at one stage.

Here is my creation

This used:

Image:  Penny Black "4037K" Mixed Media
Backing Paper:  Memory Stor
Woodware Punches:  Flowers
Leone Em Pty Punch:  Ash Branch
Distress Ink:  Frayed Burlap
Pearlescent chalks
Vellum, brads, seam binding and embroidery silk from the stash box

I do love vellum but find it hard to attach sometimes.   But because this creation had a nice "old" feel to it I decided to attach my patterned vellum with a few embroidered "french knots" .. .. .. how many years since I last did some of those?  Phew ... too many .. .. must do more as these three whet my appetite.  Makes a change from attaching it with brads I thought.

So that is it for my share of the day.

Another helping of The Apprentice tonight!!  Woo hoo!!  Two in one week!!

So now having seen my three chosen candidates in action I may have chosen a bit differently given the option again tee hee!!  I have a sneeky feeling my candidate Tom isn't going to go too far .. .. I think he needs a good shave to start with!!!!

Anyway we will see how they do tonight .. .. but the right one went last night.  I think we are going to see a few "strong and strange" personalities making an appearance over the next few weeks.  LOL!!!

Love

Hi Jules,
This is just lovely - my colours! The French knots are a fantastic idea and look like tiny little rose buds. I'm terrified of distressing and don't know where to start with it.
Can't wait for tonight's Apprentice! So glad Edward went last night - what a ****!

Gorgeous card Jules! Your distressing looks fab and I love the french knots... I used to do some embroidery for a company who supplied tissue box covers and other such 'luxury' items to Harrods lol, but I don't think I can even remember how to make a french knot now! Lisa x

Wow love this Jules. You have really cracked the vintage style hun. Not sure if you are interested as i had the same problem with velum. I came across some great stuff called V2 vellum adhesive for £1.62 and the company is called Helmar Australia PTY LTD. I got it from the local craft store & have just googled so it is available. Im a bit shocked though as Crafty Devils are selling it for about £6.50 so i would shop around hun. It is also fantastic on acetate and ribbon, especially raffia lace etc which is really holey and hard to stick without glue seeping through etc. Hope this helps. Hugs Clare xxx

The French knots look so good! (When I try them I twist my thread round and round my needle, carefully pierce my fabric - and end up with a running stitch! I just do not have the knack!)

Seriously, this is a simply beautiful card. The delicate colours and textures are so pretty!

luv, Mags x

This is a stunning example of distressing. It turned out gorgeous; you really don't need to be afraid to use this technique because your card is a beauty!

After a lot of weeks with sun and lovely temperatures ( it really looked and felt like summer here in Holland!) we are having days with rain. And today; it's raining since 6.00 AM this morning....
