My photo
A very warm welcome to my teeny, tiny part of the huge world of blogging. This is where I share my passion for making hand made greeting cards. So - why "Always with a Heart"? Well this is for two reasons. Firstly, it is because every card I produce carries a heart on it somewhere. This can be big and bold or small and almost hidden - the fun sometimes is just trying to find it! Secondly it is because I put my heart into everything I produce. I hope that any visitors enjoy seeing what I post. If you drop by then please leave me a comment so that I know you called. It would be nice to know that you have found my heart in what I do.

ONE TO DO A LOT OF

Hi Everyone

Happy Sunday!!!

I love Sunday .. .. .. which is a sign that I am now a grown up!!

When I was a child they seemed to last for ever and nothing exciting hardly ever happened .. .. .. it was like you were just sitting waiting for school the next day!! Plus it always involved last minute homework, washing your hair, having a bath and cleaning your shoes!!!!!

We would watch a film on a Sunday and sometimes (but only sometimes) we would be sent to the shop to buy some sweets to eat whilst watching. This would be a real treat as sweets were quite rare in our house as was pop or fruit juice.

If Mum and Dad were feeling a bit "flush" they would share a box of Maltesers or Fruit Pastels .. .. .. .. if they weren't quite so "well off" that week they would have a quarter of sherbet lemons!

My brother and I would be given a few pennies (these were the old pennies not the ones we have today) and I would always try and choose something that would last for ages like Spangles or Fruit Gums .. .. .. other times I would have little "pip" things. They were little teeny tiny boiled things with what looked like icing sugar on them. I suppose this stopped them sticking together. They lasted for ever. Of course my pennies wouldn't run to a quarter - I would only be able to have two ounces but they lasted ages as I only ate them one at a time. LOL!!!

I can't remember what my brother chose or what we took back for my sister but because my brother was older he was probably "allowed" chewing gum and because my sister is so much younger she probably had something like a Milky Bar.

Happy days!! How I would love one of those days again - for us all to be together as a family back then. But make it a Sunday where I have done my homework already .. .. I don't want to have to sit and do that again!! LOL!!!!

So, round to my creation for today.

This is one I really enjoyed making and I have already made three of. I think this will be one I shall adapt for some of my orders for Mothering Sunday (14th March), birthdays, get well and thank you!! So versatile.

The cutting out is a bit fiddly but you can do this anywhere. I sat cutting whilst chatting with my Mum last week and came home with a lovely little collection ready for colouring and layering. I am loving the stamp set and have only used one of the flowers so far!!

This used:

Image: Hero Arts CL375 "Big Flower Pattern"
Backing Paper: Funky Hand "Dreams Come True"
Sentiment: Elzybells
Swirl: Sizzix Die 655217 "Swirl"
Promarkers
Glamour Dust
Ribbon and brad from the stash box

Oh aren't these slightly brighter days just lovely for taking photographs!! Spring is just around the corner!!

Happy Sunday everyone. Don't eat too many sweets!! LOL!!!

Love Jules xx

What do you mean Jules 'Slightly brighter days'? It's either been snowing, raining, drizzling or misty here since last Monday and it's giving me the heebie jeebies, Lol!

Love your card. Those layered flowers are great. I loved your memories even more though because they are very similar to my own. Our treats used to be on Saturday nights though because there used to be a mobile grocer who came round the village in an old bus and we used to have a big bottle of Dandelion and Burdock pop between us me and my 3 brothers and a Wagon Wheel each, Oh and a packet of crisps if we were really lucky. Yuk, I hate Wagon Wheels now!

Enjoy your Sunday!

What a lovely card! I'm trying not to have too much on my wish list for the end of February when I go to Sir Stampalot, but those flowers are so lovely!

Hi Jules, Gorgeous card! Such a pretty flower.

I enjoyed reading about your Sundays when you were a child. On Sundays when I was a young child my dad went to the pub for a 'quick half' and would bring home a bottle of lemonade which we would have after Sunday lunch while dad was watching football on the TV and mum was doing the ironing.

Hi Kim, what a fabulous card, and I love the stamp for that flower, what a gorgeous one it is. And your story brought back some memories for me also, my dad used to bring home a packet of Polo's for me my brother and sister on a Friday night, thats when he got paid, and he always bought my mum a box of chocolates. Its funny my mum never did want anyone to take her flowers as she thought they were a waste of money, but give her a box of chocolates, and shed be in seventh heaven. I missed taking her a box this year and I collasped in tears in the supermarket seeing them on the shelves this last Xmas, it was the first time it really hit me that shes gone. With love and hugs Shirleyxxxx

Love this card Jules. I have these stamps but have never got round to using them yet.
Loved your memories of Sundays and sweeties. We always had Church and Sunday School, then a quick visit to my Gran and Aunt Jean followed by lunch. In the afternoon we went to visit my Mum's 2 brothers and 2 sisters who had a farm. After tea we came home again. I always remember that my Gran always had a poke of floral gums in the drawer and you would get some. Never the whole lot to yourself just a few lol! I still like floral gums.

I love the card. The flower is fab and I love the layering.
Tuesday used to be our sweet day. Mum gave me and my sister 10p each and I used to get loads - teddy jellies or aniseed balls were 3 for half a pence!

I had to smile at your Sundays, Jules. I have to agree that it always seemed a dull day when we were young and now it just goes too quickly however lazy you try to be to make it slower. Then there is always that Antique Roadshow feeling that the weekend is over when it comes on.
I remember Sherbet Pips too and getting 2oz on the way to school!!!! My favourite was American Cream soda though. You could make that last all day sucking it off your finger!! Happy Days!!!
I love your card, that flower is gorgeous, you have tempted me yet again!!!!
