My photo
A very warm welcome to my teeny, tiny part of the huge world of blogging. This is where I share my passion for making hand made greeting cards. So - why "Always with a Heart"? Well this is for two reasons. Firstly, it is because every card I produce carries a heart on it somewhere. This can be big and bold or small and almost hidden - the fun sometimes is just trying to find it! Secondly it is because I put my heart into everything I produce. I hope that any visitors enjoy seeing what I post. If you drop by then please leave me a comment so that I know you called. It would be nice to know that you have found my heart in what I do.

STAR OF WONDER - STAR OF LIGHT

Hi Everyone

A bit of an experimental day for me today .. .. and I have ended up with a creation I am really pleased with .. .. but can't photograph LOL!!!

I have tried a few times but no matter what I do I cannot get a shot I am truly happy with.  Once you see it you will understand why.  it looks beautiful in real life but it is hard to capture the magic because of the acetate.

This card has used items I have never used before but I have really enjoyed playing with.

Here is the culprit card

This used:

Image:  Inca Stamp "In119-D" Wise Men
Sentiment:  Computer Generated
Backing Papers:  Bearly Mine (new to me but well worth a look - these papers came from the Christmas Delight download and it is a beautiful set)
Acetate
Crafty Notions Gilding Flakes (Variegated Green)
Crafty Notions Double Sided Adhesive Sheet
Sizzix Die:  "Stars #2"
Josy Rose:  Nail Heads
Distress Ink:  Tea Dye
Diamond Stickles

This was the first time I have used the gilding flakes and when I opened the little tub it looked like I had hardly any to play with .. .. but once the air got in I had loads and loads LOL!!  (Now why can't the little wallet I keep my crafty stash money in be like that?!?!?!?).

I stamped my image onto the acetate using black Stazon and left it to dry.  I cut a piece of the double sided adhesive sheet (big enough to cover the whole of my acetate image) and peeled off one of the backing sheets and stuck this on the back of my acetate image.

Next I removed the second backing sheet which left me with a very sticky acetate image.  This I covered in the gilding flakes.  I pressed lots and lots onto the back and then used a small brush and my fingers to remove all the excess flakes.

I have done four of these images in this way and have hardly made a hole in my flakes and I certainly won't get them all back into the original little tub.  Thank goodness for plastic Chinese takeaway boxes that's all I can say!! LOL!!

OK - back to finish my other Wise Men cards.

I hope you likey, likey.

Have a lovely evening.

Love

Hi there Jules, gorgeous card, the photos are great from where I'm looking, fabulous card, I definitely likey likey. I always think with reflective surfaces like acetate and glitter it's better in real life, there's no replacing a real pair of eyes! :0) xx

Jules, That is a beautiful card. I have a stamp very similar to yours and made several cards with it, but mine aren't nearly as spectacular:( Thanks for the inspiration, now back to the crafting mat for me--hope you don't mind if I use your idea (sans gilding flakes).

Hi, what a stunning card! It's hard sometimes with photographs to get the real effect. I have seen the guilding flakes demonstrated on QVC and have been very tempted. I have only just started blogging thanks to the inspiration of Vicky at vixxhandmadecards. I have joined your list of followers and look forward to seeing more of your lovely work. Trish x
