My photo
A very warm welcome to my teeny, tiny part of the huge world of blogging. This is where I share my passion for making hand made greeting cards. So - why "Always with a Heart"? Well this is for two reasons. Firstly, it is because every card I produce carries a heart on it somewhere. This can be big and bold or small and almost hidden - the fun sometimes is just trying to find it! Secondly it is because I put my heart into everything I produce. I hope that any visitors enjoy seeing what I post. If you drop by then please leave me a comment so that I know you called. It would be nice to know that you have found my heart in what I do.

GOOD NEWS - AND BAD NEWS!!

Hi Everyone

Well the good news of the day is that it is my lovely baby Sister's birthday today .. .. .. happy birthday Joey!!!  Jo is 6 years younger than me and I can remember the day she was born as clear as anything.  She was born at home in the front bedroom and I was the first one to hold her .. .. even before our Mum.

As some of you will know my Sis makes lovely handbags and bridal bags and spends quite a few hours at her sewing machine.

So I thought that this card would be very appropriate for her

This used:

Image and Papers: Pink Petticoat
Sentiment:  Computer Generated
Buttons:  Funky Hand
Martha Stewart Punch:  Valentine Lace
My Trusty Sewing Machine
Promarkers

She loved it to bits!!

and now to the bad news part!!

My lovely hubby has been told that he is going to be made redundant!!  Panic!!!

We heard it was a possibility on Tuesday and after panicking all week it was confirmed today.

So a whole new world hits the House of Hearts.

We are not going to sulk or mope about .. .. .. it isn't the end of the world .. .. the end of the world would be if one of us was to have something wrong with us that doctor couldn't put better.

Life is just taking us on another journey we didn't expect and we just need to hope it isn't too painful a one.

So to play my part in the recovery plan I have today applied for a job on line at our local hospital.  It seemed like fate that I saw it on the day Hubby got the bad news.  There aren't usually many administration jobs going at the hospital but today there was one!!!  Just part-time - 18 hours a week - which will mean if I am successful I can do my wedding work alongside it.  I suppose in the grand scheme of things the chances are I won't even get an interview .. but at least I will have tried.

The hospital is only about 30 minutes away so I could walk there .. .. well actually it is probably 30 minutes there and 40 minutes back as you have to negotiate a steep hill!!!

Have a good evening and weekend everyone .. ..  I am back tomorrow with my last Penny Black Saturday GDT card.

Love

Happy Birthday to your little, Sis. Her card is beautiful.
But I'm so sorry to hear your news, Jules. What a start to the weekend. It's something we all live with the fear of at the minute, us included, but you just have to keep going. Like you say, there are much worse things in life and sometimes a new direction is a better one.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for your job application, it sounds perfect and I'm sure you'll get it.
I hope you can still have a nice weekend.
Hugs to you both

Hello Jules, so sorry to hear the bad news. As you say, not the end of the world but it is an unwelcome change in your lives. I wish you best of luck with your job application and your husband best of luck in his search for a new job too.

On to the card - it is lovely. I really like the sewing machine digi ... the prettiest sewing machine I've ever seen ... and the papers are so pretty too.

BTW, thanks for the information on the Teddy image.

Hi Jules! A blow but, often as one door closes another one opens - it happened to my OH more than once in the IT world. Saying that doesn't make it any easier I know honey but you're so right about health and family being top priority. Keeping fingers crossed about the job for you and that your hubby soon finds another one too. The card for Joey is super - now, how do I craft with me fingers crossed? Love, Di xxx

Hi Buddy, you already know you are in my thoughts and I should take a leaf out of your book of positive thoughts! I shall keep my fingers and every other extremity crossed for you with regard to the job which I'm sure you would be perfect for.

You are right about the redundancy not being the end of the world. When it happened to my OH I told him we could get through it as long as we were side by side and we did ........ 3 times now!

Please wish Jo a very happy birthday from me. I can vouch first hand for her beautiful bags because as you know she made the perfect bespoke bag for me to give to my lovely Daughter on her wedding day back in May. Jenna said it was so special and it is lovingly wrapped in tissue as a wonderful reminder of her special day. Your Joey was a wonderful lady to deal with too and made choosing the bag and it's final design such a pleasure.

I'm sure the card you made her will be treasured to, especially as it came from her Big Sister.

Hugs
Lesley Xx

Jules, There are a number of things that I've learnt in life so far and while I don't want to be mouthing platitudes to you these two are absolutely true ....what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger and when one door closes another one opens. I'm sure your positive attitude will mean you pull through ok.

Throw some of that positive attitude towards yourself, who knows, you might be just the right person for that administration job despite the competition!

Oh and I love your card, as always, it's why I'm an avid fan!
Cheers,

Oh sweetie, I've been there - my hubby was made redundant several years ago, and I'll never forget the awful, scared, empty feeling when we got the news. I really feel for you, and I hope so much that you'll get the hospital job, and that it'll be enjoyable! You'd be fantastic at it!

With much love and hugs - Mags x

Sorry for the bad news about your hubby, I hope he is able to find something else soon and in the meantime good luck for your job application.

Your sister's card is lovely, so personal to her and I love the button on the sewing machine :)

I'm frantically trying to catch up as it is a big birthday on Wednesday (30 plus 10 wedding anniversaries), my wedding anniversary, just having a new fence fitted and lots of things happening over the next few days so cardmaking will be on the back burner. Trying to get DT stuff done in advance just in case!!

Good luck at the wedding fayre sweetie xxx
