A very warm welcome to my teeny, tiny part of the huge world of blogging. This is where I share my passion for making hand made greeting cards. So - why "Always with a Heart"? Well this is for two reasons. Firstly, it is because every card I produce carries a heart on it somewhere. This can be big and bold or small and almost hidden - the fun sometimes is just trying to find it! Secondly it is because I put my heart into everything I produce. I hope that any visitors enjoy seeing what I post. If you drop by then please leave me a comment so that I know you called. It would be nice to know that you have found my heart in what I do.

SUNDAY SCRAP DAY 3

Hi Everyone

Well here I am again on my personal mission to get rid of the scrap that haunts my craft pod.

Already I am on Scrap Sunday number 3 .. .. but have decided that I really need to think much more seriously about how I am going to cut down on all this scrap.  One pathetic card on a Sunday isn't going to make much of a hole is it?

After all .. .. over the course of the week I make even more scrap!!  LOL!!!

That said though I am now finding that even in the week I reach for my scrap drawers much more frequently than I used to .. .. so that can only be a good thing.

So what have I come up with this week?

Well this week I am going for more than one creation (which is a good start).

First of all here is a card I have made

This used:

The compulsory scrap papers
Woodware Punch:  ? Postage Stamp, Circle and Small Label
Sizzix Die:  "655217" Decorative Accent, Swirl
Shapeabilities:  Nested Flower (borrowed from my lovely Sis xx)

Cuttlebug Embossing Folder: Distressed Stripes
Scrap ribbon

Next I decided to start a stock of ready made flower embellishments.  There is a good chance I would dip into a box to find a suitable flower during the course of the week (plus I do love making them)  LOL!!!  So here is my starter .. .. (and more scrap used up than previous weeks).

To make these I used the Sheapeabilites Nested Flower dies again and a woodware circle punch.

I went around the edge of the flowers with an ink pad to colour the edges and then sprayed them all with water and screwed them up.  I carefully then opened them all out again and fastened the various layers together with a brad.

I again screwed them up a bit and then sprayed then with Antique Brass Glimmer Mist.

I dried them with my heat gun, which makes them all knarl up even more.  The Glimmer Mist isn't showing too well on the paper .. .. but has given a great look to the brads don't you think?

So who else has been inspired by my scrap mission this week .. .. .. ..

My lovely blog buddy Nicola (or Nicky) took part in the scrap challenge too last week and created a lovely card and tag for using up her scrap papers.  In fact she even re-cycled wrapping paper from her birthday in November .. .. which I feel should warrant an extra point!!  Well done Nicky and thank you for sharing with us all.  Nicky's lovely creation can be seen here.

Another lovely blog buddy Carole also played along.  She took my scrap challenge and linked it with the Mojo Monday challenge .. .. what an honour!!!  Here is what Carole created ...  .. how wonderful is this?  (Of course I found the heart no problem LOL!!).

Cynthia wrote to say that she stores all of her scraps in an "accordian file" .. .. similar to what you might use to keep those nasty bills in!! I thought that was a good idea  -  though I personally have a way to go before I could fit my scrap into one of those .. .. .. shame on me!!!  (But I am doing something about it !!).

Thank you ladies for getting in touch and letting me know what you have been doing with your scrap and how you have been storing it.  Always open to ideas as to what I can do with mine.

................ and lastly.   Sorry everyone .. .. I am not allowed to reveal my Penny Black at Allsorts personal prize winner until tomorrow at 8.00am.  The rules were set so long ago I forgot and in my excitement I thought I could tell you today .. .. doh!!  What am I like?

So set your alarms for 7.45am .. .. my post is scheduled for bang on 8.00am.

Have a great evening everyone.

Love

Ohhh ... that is such a great card. Love the layout and the flower. I may have to case this lovely card; probably in lavenders. Seeing that I just found a stash of scraps in that color range.

Thank you for blogging last weeks scrap card. I just finished todays and will have it posted shortly.

Love this little challenge Jules, and I agree regarding use; I make a pound of scraps a week and tap into maybe a teaspoons worth on Sunday. However, pre-making flowers is a great idea and nay use of scraps is better then letting them continue to grow.

Hiya Jules
Loving this card - and those flowers are fabulous!
I think I could make at least a year's worth of cards if I used all the scraps in my box lol!!!
Hope you and your pther half are starting to feel a lot better?
I did have to laugh at your previous post regarding the shingles - sorry :-)
Enjoy the rest of the evening

Me too, me too! I'm using my scaps too! although you and I had the resolution simultaneously, Jules, and I didn't pick a day to use my scraps, I'm just trying to look in the scrap unit BEFORE looking at my main papers so, in fact, I have used some scraps on every card I have produced since I started.
I love this Sunday's make. Very stylish! And those flowers are fabby. My problem with pre-making flowers is that I suspect I would end up with having to have another storage unit for flowers I made but which don't quite go with my project. Beautiful flowers though. I might have a go when I get a bit more time. Right now I'm still trying to organise other parts of my Craft Croft. The scraps was phase 1. I'm currently on to phase 2 which is organising the stamps. Check back with me in April. I might have finished by then!!! Big hugs, Lesley

Jules, I love your scrap Sundays!! Although you've only dipped into your scraps by creating these projects, they are gorgeous. I especially like today's. Your cards always inspire me to try something new:)
I tend to use my tiny box of scraps as layers! (I've only been at this a year!) Every time I want to add a spark of colour or a layer I automatically delve into my box. I can usually find a piece that will fit so I don't cut into so many large pieces of paper. I'm also 'cheap' and 'environmental' so don't like to waste:)
Good luck whittling down your scraps! I look forward to seeing more results:)

Love the card Jules - it's a great idea and inspiring a few crafters to play along. I tend to use my scraps up punching out butterflies and swirls and now I'll be trying my hand at some flowers.

A gorgeous card Jules and I love your flowers too :o)

I'm really trying to reach for my scraps more often... I have big plans for when my youngest starts nursery at Easter... planning whole days where I use stamps that have never been inked, using up scraps, maybe even using some of the dreaded stickers I bought when I first started crafting. Wonder if I'll stick to it lol! Lisa x

Jules thank you for your lovely comments and link to my blog. You have to be the one to thank as you inspired me to use those little bits of scrap paper that I collect and never do anything with. I make sure now that I always use them up first if I can before cutting inot a new sheet of paper.
Your card is lovely and those flowers beautiful too. Think I may have to get some glimmer mist to have a go with.

Hugs Nicola
